Brad Shepard helps his 8-year-old son Myles on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the annual Clyde Shepard Memorial Fishing Rodeo for Kids at Lake Lou Emma in Van Buren. Hosted by the Crawford County Conservation League with help from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, which stocked the lake prior to the event, the fishing rodeo saw families from around the River Valley compete in different age categories for prizes by catching the largest catfish. Each competitor between the ages of 5-16 had a limit of five fish caught and was not allowed to cast out, chum or cull. The event has been taking place every year since the 1950s. It is now named after Shepard's father, a longtime member of the Crawford County Conservation League. Visit nwaonline.com/220516Daily/ for today's photo gallery.
