Volunteer coordinator Hunter Gabb organizes the space of a new community market, Thursday May 19, 2022 at the Samaritan Community Center in Rogers. The Community Center is transitioning to a grocery store experience where clients-in-need can come in and choose their own groceries and personal care items. The program will provide a more personalized and dignified experience so clients are not receiving foods they cannot cook or do not want. "Being able to choose your own groceries is more independent and truer to our mission and the heart of what we're trying to do," said Colter Keathley, creative manager. Clients will be able to choose produce, canned goods, a protein and depending on availability, cheeses and breads. While Springdale's location has already kicked off their market, the Rogers Community Center will will begin their's on May 31st.
