Sampson, organizer of the Cane Hill Kite Festival, tries out a box kite Wednesday, March 6, 2024, one of several sizes that she is offering for the first time this year, while preparing for the 23rd edition of the festival at Springfield Ranch in Cane Hill. The festival begins at noon Saturday, with a rain date set for March 16, and lasts until the last kite comes down. Admission is $1 for kids and $2 for adults to fly a kite, but it’s free to watch. Military families fly for free. All proceeds support the festival’s continuation with disabled and preferred parking offered as a fundraiser for Blind Hope Cat Sanctuary. Kites will be offered for sale onsite with prices from $1 to $18 and free kites given away hourly. Visit nwaonline.com/photo for today's photo gallery.
