Remote control car enthusiasts were getting in some practice laps on the indoor track Friday ahead of today’s annual event, which will feature races in 11 classes beginning at noon. Bryon Shumate, owner of GS Hobby, said the race, which GS Hobby has been hosting every weekend before New Year’s (if not on the holiday itself) since 2014, is expected to draw dozens of competitors from all over the south, each of whom will be vying for a trophy and bragging rights.
